Just an impromtu poll: Which is your favorite Austen novel? Which comes in second.
I'm sure we can tell by some of the characters chosen.
Personally, Persuasion is my favorite and in second comes Sense and Sensibility. I seem to choose according to how much I like the hero. Though, my like of S&S is due to Brandon. I like Knightley of Emma second to Wentworth, but Emma makes me crazy. (I know, she's 19 and 19 yo's are ... that way.)
LOL -- am i allowed to do that? seriously though, i love the other books and their characters, but wentworth is my all time fave. i can agree with your like of brandon. perhaps after wentworth would be tilney -- myleast favorite 'hero' is edmund.
My absolute favorite Austen novel is Persuasion and my second is...ohhhh I would have to say Sense & Sensibility as well.
As for leading men! Captain Wentworth is my favorite but I do love Colonel Brandon and Edward Ferrars as well. Let's hope I would love Edward since I chose Elinor as my character here! ;)
My favorite usually changes depending on my mood. Right now, I would say Emma is my favorite. John Knightly is one of my favorite JA characters. I also enjoy re-reading the Jane Fairfax/Frank Churchill subplot. When I first read the book, I completely ignored all the clues because I was so sympathetic to Emma's viewpoint. After at least a couple re-readings, I noticed how obvious the clues were. To me, it is just like mystery without the murder or crime. My second favorite is probably S&S because I find both Marianne and Elinore so appealing. I also am very partial to the moview version with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet.
